The Young People Partnership

image depicting A Swansea Youth Forum meeting

The Young People Partnership (YPP) has been created to improve the planning, co-ordination and delivery of all services for young people (11-25 yrs) in Swansea.

The Young People Partnership works at a more operational level than the Children and Young People Framework Partnership (CYPFP), and is responsible for delivering the strategic vision for young people. Due to the nature of the work of this Partnership, it meets more regularly than the Framework Partnership, around four times a year. The main guidance from WAG (Welsh Assembly Government), which the Partnership works towards, is contained within Extending Entitlement.

Membership of the YPP, as with the CYPFP spans the statutory, voluntary and private sectors. Representatives include Regeneration, Education, Social Services, Swansea Council for Voluntary Services, Swansea Young Single Homeless Project, Council for Wales and Youth Voluntary Services, the Youth Forum, Swansea NHS Trust and Local Health Board and the Youth Offending Team. The YPP also works closely with the Youth Forum. The guidance from WAG states that young people should be involved in any improvements or changes to services which affect them. Therefore, consultation with and participation of young people in the Partnership is key to its success.
